Happy New Year - OH, It's 1/6th over?

A very belated Happy New Year!! After a very nice two weeks of rest over the Christmas Season, the New Year hit us... and it has been non-stop ever since. In just the six or seven weeks since we had that midnight celebration, a lot has happened... including the following:

  • Welcomed Dan's parents to Kenya on Jan 8 for their first visit, and to do a three-month short-term ministry trip with us.

  • Were joined by our missionaries in North Eastern Province for a week, to welcome and orient 8 new students from Bethany College of Missions coming to do their 16-month academic/experiential internship.

  • Travelled to North Eastern Kenya to see the new students arrive safely in their new home, welcomed by the 8 students who have been here since last year. Paul Hartford, the program director from BCOM, and a close friend of ours, was here for a week during that time.

  • Chaired a meeting of nearly a dozen churches/organizations forming oversight of a National Research & Outreach Network.

  • Chaired a meeting of nearly a dozen different churches/organizations laying foundations for forming a Naitonal Missionary Training Network.

  • Chaired a meeting of about 8 or 9 organizations working for form a National Mission Mobilization Network.

  • Taught two Seminars on Church Leadership in Missions to a Maasai denomination. in two different locations

  • Worked many meetings on re-organization of our Church, and further establishment of the Church's mission program to the unreached.
  • Nancy has been very busy as well, working to establish, organize, and man the Nurse's Office at the Kids school - a project that she has been working towards for the last year and a half - preparing the school so that they can be in position to hire a full-time nurse.

These are just a few things that have kept us engaged in the past few weeks!
